The Coming to Jones Road – Children’s Makerspace offers children the opportunity to experience the artistic expression of Faith Ringgold. As Ringgold’s work reflects diverse topics and techniques such as painting, quilting and storytelling, the space has been intentionally designed to offer diverse and creative artistic opportunities for children. The Makerspace offers readings from Ringgold’s children’s books, a creative space surrounded by posters of Ringgold’s artwork, and art-making opportunities. The space also contains easels for painting and drawing, tabletop space for collage-making with natural materials, and big swaths of paper for art on the floor experiences
Access to the Makerspace is by appointment only. The Makerspace will be open on Wednesdays (10am – 2pm) during the month of February. In March, the makerspace will be open Tuesdays and Wednesdays (10am – 2pm). In addition, one Family Night in February, March, and April will be made available.
